Association of Free Lutheran Congregations

St. Olaf Lutheran and Pukwana Free Lutheran Churches are both member of the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC).

The AFLC is a doctrinally confessional, theologically conservative, and congregational association of independent Lutheran congregations who cooperate and support one another for the advancement of the Kingdom of God through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word here and abroad.

We believe the Bible is the fully inspired, inerrant, infallible, and efficacious Word of God.

As distinctively Lutheran congregations, both congregations unreservedly subscribe to the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds, as well as the Unaltered Augsburg Confession of 1530 and Luther’s Small Catechism. Additionally, St. Olaf subscribes to Luther’s Large Catechism.

As members of the AFLC, both congregations also subscribe to the Fundamental Principles of the Lutheran Free Church and the Rules of Work.

Pastor Nicholas Schultz

Pastor Schultz has served St. Olaf and Pukwana since August 2022. Born and raised in Madison, SD, Pr. Schultz is a 2018 graduate of The Free Lutheran Theological Seminary. He previously served as the Sr. Pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and Preschool in Kirkland, WA and Pastoral Intern at Good Shepherd Church of Camarillo, CA.

Pr. Schultz loves to apply the Gospel of Jesus Christ to weary sinners and emphasize that our forgiveness and comfort comes from Jesus and not from ourselves.

Within the AFLC, he serves on the Home Missions Board of Directors which encourages and oversees church planting and revitalization ministry with the AFLC. He also serves on the AFLC’s Colloquy Committee which is tasked with examining pastors who wish to join the clergy roster of the AFLC.

Pr. Schultz is married to Miriam, and they have three children, Evangelyn, Esther, and Nathan. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his daughters’ basketball teams, barbequing, officiating football, hiking, and water skiing.

    We believe planting new churches is one of the most effective ways to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. We partner with Home Missions to plant Free, Living, Lutheran Congregations.

  • AFLC World Missions

    Jesus commissions the church to make disciples of all nations. By partnering with AFLC World Missions, we carry out Jesus commissions by sending church planters, training Bible teachers and pastors, caring for orphans, and supporting other Free, Living, and Lutheran Congregations in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

  • Free Lutheran Bible College and Seminary

    The Free Lutheran Bible College and Seminary exists to establish students in the eternal and inerrant Word of God for a life of faith in Jesus Christ and faithful service in His Kingdom.

    The Bible College is an accredited two-year college where the primary textbook is the Bible.

    The Seminary prepares servant pastors to lead Free, Living, Lutheran Congregations.

  • Pickerel Lake Lutheran Bible Camp

    Pickerel Lake Lutheran Bible Camp has been serving the region since 1940, providing a place of retreat and Biblical teaching for youth. PLLBC hosts two annual youth camps for Junior High and Senior High.
